Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum

Early capture of the VR game

For the Amelia Earhart Museum in Atchison, Kansas, we developed an engaging VR game that traces Amelia Earhart’s historic flight as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The goal was to create an immersive experience that not only educates but also captivates visitors.

As the lead designer, I was responsible for conceptualizing the initial gameplay. I began by thoroughly researching Earhart’s journey, aiming to reflect both the technical challenges and the emotional highs of her pioneering flight. I created the first gameplay blueprint, mapping out key moments and interactive elements to ensure a cohesive and engaging user experience.

To bring the concept to life, I used Adobe XD for prototyping. This allowed me to quickly iterate on design ideas and incorporate feedback from the team. I focused on crafting a user-friendly interface that seamlessly guides players through the VR experience.

One of the key elements of the game is the visual representation of Earhart’s departure from Newfoundland and her arrival in Ireland. I meticulously designed the scenery for these two crucial locations, aiming for historical accuracy and visual appeal. By blending photorealistic textures with dynamic weather effects, I was able to create environments that enhance the sense of immersion and authenticity.

Overall, this project was a rewarding challenge that combined my passion for history, technology, and interactive design. It was gratifying to see visitors enjoy the VR game and gain a deeper appreciation for Amelia Earhart’s remarkable achievements.
