Cabela’s Activations

The Cabela’s activations consisted of 3 “Trail-head” Kiosks and 3 VR headsets which let the user fish with a professional bass fisherman, experience tents and hunting blinds, hunt for deer and turkey, see local hunting fishing and camping spots, and share outdoor experiences.

I did software, UI, 360 shoot management, and editing, environment creation, and game AI.

For the fishing experience, we rigged a pro bass fishing boat with 3 360 cameras and a unique 360 microphone. This footage created a series of fishing tutorials that shoppers could watch and feel like they were right there in the boat.

I scheduled the 360 shoots, logged and edited the footage, created overlays for the 360 videos, and created the UI interface.

For the camping trail-head, Shoppers are able to see a 360 image of several tents to get a feel for what it’s like to use them in person. Each tent had info call-outs and additional accessories to highlight features and get a sense of the volume of each tend.

The hunting trail-head let shoppers hunt turkey or deer from inside several of the hunting blinds carried by Cabela’s.

Shoppers also had the opportunity to experience the 360 content in a VR headset.
